Description

Personal speculation: PSO2 is being ported to the NGS engine to keep players occupied involving NGS content releases. No new content will be released to it outside of cosmetics, of which will all be obtained/ported from NGS events/scratches to get folks to perform with that. It’ll be eliminated after a couple of years after all the players have migrated and the only people in the PSO2 blocks are diehards holdouts/nostalgia. Probably. It is a new game so chances are like any Online RPG the first release will not have much in regards to an endgame for those players that hit max level on day 1. It will be wonderful to just switch cubes anytime I want struck up an old UQ though. There’s never a reason to not see magatsu.

Great FAQ, answers a lot of my first doubts. Gosh, this seems so complicated. On the 1 hand, kudos for keeping the original game intact so there will not be a riot over changes people don’t like. However on the other hand, since they’re remaking base PSO2 visuals anyway, I wish they would only go 100 percent and synchronize personality models entirely. Giving old players some free style items and unlocks would be sufficient to bribe everyone to take the new system.

Synchronizing 100% character models does not sound simple. The problem is that the older outfits and coating use are modeled to fit the older pso2 body. That is unlikely to occur. Well, I mean that I would be willing to shed a certain proportion of the cosmetics to keep things intact around variations. As long as there’s a continuous feed of cool new things to replace it, I do not mind. I constantly rotate out my older looks anyway. As long as the character models translate 1:1 it will still feel just like mine.

I’d imagine a massive complication to that entails a lot of the makeup from the Japanese side of things which were exclusive to collaborations, promotional events, and events that no longer exist. The instance I can think of is the Dragon Hunter Frontier Z collaboration where I can imagine the clothes and weapons could definitely be given a visual update together with everything else but I do not exactly understand how the licensing or how the lawful side of the cooperation works where I’d wish it was as simple as Sega going through and upgrading the assets but I don’t understand about how much of Capcom is involved in this process.

The same applies to collaborations like the Final Fantasy XIV collaboration with Odin (which still exists as far as I know) where I don’t know how much of Square Enix is involved that for Sega to be able to upgrade assets . When it was purely just Phantasy Star-related items (like character outfits, cameos from other games, or alternative Sega-related possessions ) I could imagine this likely would have been achieved, or would be done. But in the worldwide variant we already don’t have the presence of Cougar NX therefore that I don’t exactly know if there are additional issues regarding Sega’s properties that might also contribute to not updating everything they could within reason.
